GasPrice.us collects the following information when you create an account:
- Email address — used for account login and price alert notifications
- Password — stored as a salted cryptographic hash, never in plain text
We also collect usage data automatically:
- Google Analytics — anonymous page views, session duration, and traffic sources
- Session cookies — a session identifier cookie (
sid) to maintain your login state
We do not collect your location, IP address for tracking purposes, or any financial information directly. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively for:
- Account management — authenticating your login sessions
- Price alerts — sending email notifications when gas prices match your configured thresholds
- Service improvement — anonymous analytics help us understand which features are most useful
We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
GasPrice.us integrates with the following third-party services:
- Stripe — processes subscription payments securely. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data handling. We never see or store your credit card number.
- Google Analytics — collects anonymous usage statistics. You can opt out using Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- ClickBank — our affiliate product partner. Clicking affiliate links takes you to third-party sites with their own privacy policies.
Your Rights and Contact
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Opt-out — unsubscribe from price alert emails at any time via your dashboard
California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information.
EU residents (GDPR): You have rights to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
